Day 1: Cuzco – Saywite – Capulilloc – Playa Rosalina “Choquequirao”
The trip begins very early in the morning when we pick you up from your hotel and we will head northwest of the city of Cusco to arrive at our place of beginning of trekking; The 4 hours of travel that takes to get to Capulilloc will cross several colonial towns. The first day of hiking is going down the mountain until we reach the camp called Playa Rosalina located near the Apurimac River; it is hot tonight because we are located in the depths of the Apurimac Canyon.
Day 2: Playa Rosalina – Choquequirao “Choquequirao”
We recommend this day to start trekking at dawn before the sun goes out to avoid solar radiation (the heat is strong because we are located inside the Apurimac Canyon and the mountains are rocky). It is impressive to keep everything that you have to climb until you reach the place of lunch (Marampata) the path goes zigzagging all the way until arriving at the Andean farmhouse. It is incredible the combination of nature in the middle of the mountain is more desolate as desert and then the middle of the trail is green vegetation more known as cloud forest.
Day 3: Tour and Trek around Choquequirao
This day we will explore the beautiful gem called Choquequirao. Choquequirao is compared to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu because it has some similarities such as being located at the same height, also because there is a sacred river that borders it, the vegetation of the place called cloud forest, construction geography between 2 Inca cities and these two beautiful buildings in architecture are considered as the divine couple. We will explore the Upper and Lower Square, the twin niches, the granaries, the area of Llamas (designed in Inca walls), etc.; we have all day to discover the idea of the ancient Incas that motivated them to build such a beautiful gigantic city In the middle of a place of difficult access.
Day 4: Choquequirao – Maizal
A long day for the adventure that awaits us to conquer. We start the activities at 5 am to leave at 6 in the morning and climb first to the Choquequirao Pass which is only an hour away this first path is inside the dense vegetation. The descent of mountain to the WHITE river (Rio Blanco) is spectacular all the panoramic views of the Andes with the nature. Perhaps along the way we will observe some condors. At half a mountain, we will find the archaeological complex of Ichu Pata, a place that was part of Choquequirao. When we reach the White River, we will cool in its waters. The last three hours of hiking is mountain up to reach our camp called Maizal (camp most remote of all the adventure) there are some families that inhabit the place.
Day 5: Maizal – Yanama – PM Collpapampa “Choquequirao – Salcantay”
After our nutritious breakfast, we started our trekking. Today’s goal is to conquer our first Mountain Pass (Paso Yanama) the first hours will be through the high jungle to reach the heights of the Andes; Place where the vegetation changes to grasslands and some shrubs. There is an original Inca Trail through these places, once we conquer the top we will have a panoramic view of three Andean valleys, everything seems unreal but it is real “some of the best mountain passes”
When we arrive to the Yanama community all our camping equipment will be loaded in a local vehicle and we will transport to the base camp called Collpapampa or Challway (1-hour trip).
Day 6: Collpapampa – Suyroccocha “Salcantay”
From today, our trekking will be by the classic Salkantay trail but we will realize it in the opposite direction. The first three hours is inside the cloud forest until arriving at Wayrac Machay. From Wayrac Machay High Mountain, the path becomes stony. The mountain range of the Salkantay is impressive from a distance, our goal today is to conquer our second mountain pass called Salkantay pass. From the top, we are just 30 minutes away to reach our camp (Suyroc Cocha).
Our camp is located very close to the snowy Salkantay that is why it will be cold tonight and if the sky is clear, we will be able to observe many shooting stars.
Day 7: Suyroccocha – Inca Canal “Salkantay”
Today is the greatest challenge of all the mountain passes is to conquer the Inca Chiriaska pass. We have two hour of mountain hiking down and when we reach Salkantay Pampa we will start our trekking upwards conquering the mountain little by little until we reach the top.
The summit is called Inca Chiriaska because the Inca ruler felt the cold that is why it is named thus said summit. From the top to our camp is all down the rocky mountain. Today will be a day of many challenges, adventures, and prior to it the first few days the whole group will have practiced to overcome this great challenge of hiking that is only for people qualified or who have a previous training. If you love mountains, this adventure is for you.
Day 8: Inca Canal – Paucarcancha “Salkantay”
Our trekking on this day is more leisurely until we reach our camp; very close to our camp, we find the archaeological group of Paucarcancha (Inca place). From this place, we can call the official TRAIL of the classic Inca Trail more known in the world. We have only 3 hours of hiking and the rest of the day we can relax in the river or exploring nature.
Day 9: Paucarcancha – Llulluchapampa “Inca Trail”
Also today, are about 3 hours of hiking, between Wayllabamba and Ayapata is going up the mountain and is cataloged between moderate to easy trekking. Between Ayapata and Llulluchapampa, it is a challenge to climb all the Inca steps. From the camp, we will have a very beautiful panoramic view of the valley and the Warmiwañusca Pass.
Day 10: Llulluchapampa – Phuyupatamarca “Inca Trail”
It is amazing to appreciate the original Inca Trail as a group of people worked in the most remote place on the planet. This day is the most amazing and wonderful of all days of trekking within the Inca Trail. Each Inca site (Runkuracay, Sayacmarca, and Conchamarca) is built within the vegetation and on top of natural pyramids that form the mountainous Andes.
Day 11: Phuyupatamarca – Inti Punku – Aguas Calientes village “Inca Trail”
The sunrises at the top of Phuyupatamarca camp are spectacular; it is like being on top of the world! Our goal today is to reach Machu Picchu via Sun Gate, explore the archaeological sites of Intipata, Wiñaywayna, Inti Punko, and observe Machu Picchu the day before our main tour.
Day 12: Machu Picchu Tour + Waynapicchu Mountain
Finally, our ultimate goal of all the adventure is to reach Machu Picchu and explore it in its entire splendor to understand the reasons and reasons why it was built in this place so magical and beautiful at the same time.
Our tour is to explore all the temples and functionality of Machu Picchu with our guide are two hours of guided tour being enough time to walk and take pictures.
After the guided tour you will have free time to continue visiting the site or go to Huayna Picchu Mountain.
