Ancascocha Hike Machu Picchu Tour is done in 6 days instead of 5 days so the trekking is shorter in different sections of the trek and especially the Wayanay Pass is in two days more than a single day. (Wayanay is the highest point of the whole trek). Ancascocha route was the route of the original Inca Trail 500 years ago; nowadays this route is for alternate hiking trail that joins the first day of the famous Inca Classic Trail (Via Wayllabamba). The penultimate day will enter the classic Inca trail between Wayllabamba to Km 82 of the railway line “place where the Ancascocha adventure ends, and place where the Classic Inca Trail begins”

Ancascocha hiking takes 6 days, 5 nights because is cataloged for families, teenagers, young, and for honeymooners, every day is short hiking sections and are not as long as the other programs we offer. Day 1. Cusco – Socma – Rayan camp

This first day we depart from the city of Cusco at seven in the morning and we will go by transportation to the valley of the Incas. Our Kondor transport will make a first stop in the viewpoint of Raqchi “ideal place to appreciate and take some very good photos of the sacred valley of the Incas and the Andean mountain ranges, you can also see some colonial villages in the whole esplanade of the valley ” Continuing the trip we enter inside the sacred valley by Urubamba town, in the ravine of Pomatales there is a detour towards Socma, before arriving at our starting point of trekking we will make a second stop; visiting the sacred temple of Ñaupa Iglesia an ancestral place of the Incas.

In Socma, our muleteer and our mules await us to start the journey and adventure through the trail of Ancascocha trek, today you walk 8 kilometers (5 miles), and there are 4 hours of hiking through the Perolniyoc waterfalls and we explore the Inca ruins of Perolniyoc , Today hiking is classified as mild to moderate.

Day 2. Rayan – Puccaqasa Pass – Ancascocha camp

The day begins with a coca tea that is served in their tents. After packing all our adventure equipment, we started trekking along the ancient Inca trail and trail. The fauna of the place is Andean High Mountain with its miniature shrubs and large grasslands. After a couple of hours you have the first step of mountains called Puccaqasa, next comes the highest point of today that is called Kuychicassa 4,457 m / 14,619 ft. From this place, you will get a surprising panoramic view of the sacred valley of the Incas and glacier mountains.

The rest of the day is downhill than uphill until you reach the community of Ancascocha “via Chancachuco” this community is located at a height of 3,700 m / 12,136 ft. Has separate houses, and a college. During the afternoon, we serve a delicious afternoon tea with popcorn.

Day 3. Ancascocha – Huayanay Pass – Incaraqay camp

Today we will also have a delicious coca tea before breakfast; the climb up the lagoon of Ancascocha is moderate following a path alongside the glacial stream. From this lagoon, we will climb-up to reach the top of the whole trip. Wayanay Mountains Pass 4650 m / 15,300 ft. Here there are traces of Inca road that reached the top of Wayanay; the other side of the pass has an archaeological group called Incaraqay 4000 m. The trekking of the day is nine kilometers and it is 6 hours of trek approximately.

Day 4. Incaraqay – Qesqa – Paucarcancha camp

After a well-deserved rest, today we leave at eight in the morning to our expedition following the ancient Inca roads, the vegetation becomes greener, and we enter the valley of Salkantay, Cusichaca and Hatun Wayruro. Hiking is downhill, we walk 13 kilometers in 5 hours, when we reach the camp “Paucarcancha 3100 m” we explore the ruins of PAUCARCANCHA.

Day 5. Paucarcancha – Inca Trail – Km 82 / PM Train to Aguas Calientes village.

The last day of hiking is through the hamlet of Wayllabamba and km 82 of the railway line. We will visit the ruins of Pata wasi, and we will observe from the viewpoint the Inca citadel of PATALLACTA. The expedition ends at km 82 starting place of the classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. After lunch we board our transport to OLLANTAYTAMBO, in this place we take the train service that takes us to the town of AGUAS CALIENTES “an hour and forty minutes of travel”
